Introduction
Practical placement is an important part of the undergraduate degree programme Social Work in Mental Health Care. In preparing to work as a social worker in the field of mental health and illness, it is important that the learner complements theoretical learning with a practical placement in professional practice.

Length of Practical Placement
During the course of study, each learner must complete a total of 2 courses of Practical Placement (Practical Placement 1 and Practical Placement 2) as per the Recommended Syllabus (hereafter referred to as Winter Term 1 and Winter Term 2). Each Practical Placement has a scope of 120 hours, the hours are fulfilled according to a pre-agreed schedule (individual days of placement), which is completed by the student with the mentor of the placement and which is given in an outline form in the Acceptance Letter, which the student sends by e-mail to the placement tutor (Mgr. Markéta Dubnová, marketa.dubnova@vspj.cz) no later than on the day of the start of the placement.
For the duration of the study, the total scope of the Practical Placement is 240 hours. This time does not include breaks for meals and rest. Self-study is not a standard part of the Practical Placement, it is not counted towards the actual performance of the Practical Placement (it is not acceptable for the student to complete any part of the Practical Placement by studying materials or documents at home).
