Outcomes

In the case of the first category of practical placement (creation of a measurable output, practical placement of the project type, see chapter Description of the Practical Placement course), the main outcome of the placement will be the student's own product. Other required outcomes are listed below.

Practical Placement Work Log

At least once a week, the student shall make an entry in an electronic form of the work log accessible in the praxe.vspj.cz portal, indicating which activities he/she has performed in the relevant period. 

Final Report on the Course and Outcomes of the Practical Placement

The document "Final Report on the Course and Outcomes of the Practical Placement" is a concise report (1–2 A4 pages) written by the student, which will include:

• focus of the company
• a brief description of the activities that the student performed during the placement
• description of the output of the placement in case the placement has a specific output (project type)
• evaluation of the benefits of the placement for the student (gained knowledge, skills, habits, positive and negative experiences...)
• what courses the student would recommend adding to the VŠPJ curriculum before students begin their Practical Placement
• recommendations for further practical placements at this company
• what the student would recommend in general regarding the organisation of practical placements

A sample report on the course of the Practical Placement can be found in the "Documents" section of the praxe.vspj.cz portal. The report will be submitted no later than three weeks after the end of the practical placement. The student will submit the report electronically to the Practical Placement Portal.

Digital presentation for the Practical Placement oral defence 

The requirements for successful completion of the course Practical Placement include creating a digital presentation and subsequently defending it orally!

Based on the previous document "Final Report on the Course and Outcomes of the Practical Placement" and the Practical Placement Work Log, the student will prepare a digital presentation to defend his/her practical placement orally. The presentation will consist of 10–15 slides and its duration is 10 minutes. In this presentation, the student will summarise:

• type of practical placement and company focus,
• description of the outcome of the practical placement in case the placement has a specific outcome (project option),
• description of the 2–3 most interesting problems solved in case the placement is of the continuous activity type,
• evaluation of the practical placement by the student, recommendations for further practical placements in this company.

The student will submit an electronic presentation to the portal praxe.vspj.cz.  The specific date of the presentation defense will be specified during the semester. The purpose of the presentation is for the student to inform colleagues and department members about his/her practical placement, to develop his/her presentation skills, and to prepare for the situation of the thesis defense.

Student evaluation of the practical placement

On praxe.vspj.cz, the student will fill out an online structured questionnaire, which will be used both to compare the course of the practical placements in various study programmes, and the student will indicate for the practiced knowledge and skills how much he/she used them within the placement, and also evaluate the level of readiness for the activity. The report will be submitted no later than three weeks after the end of the placement.

Confirmation of completion of the placement and evaluation of the student by the organisation

A sample document Confirmation of completion of the practical placement and its evaluation is available in the praxe.vspj.cz portal. These certificates and evaluations are issued by the organisation where the student did the placement. It must be confirmed that the student has completed the placement or training of the prescribed length. In addition, it must be confirmed that the student has produced the required output in the placement according to the approved specification or that the student has conscientiously carried out the specified continuous activity (depending on the type of placement). A questionnaire shall be completed by a representative of the organisation briefly describing and evaluating the student's practical placement. The confirmation and evaluation will be submitted no later than three weeks after the end of the placement, in paper form to the departmental secretariat and in electronic form (a scan of the signed and stamped document) to the placement portal.
