1. 5. 2026 10:16 Author: PhDr. Lenka Görnerová, PhD.

The modules Professional Practice and Individual Professional Practice constitute the core components of the curriculum, with a total allocation of 2,300 hours.

Students are afforded the opportunity to apply knowledge acquired through theoretical and practical instruction, learning to provide comprehensive nursing care via the nursing process method while simultaneously gaining an understanding of the fundamentals of public health and prevention. The practice fosters independence, accountability, and teamwork. Significant emphasis is placed on technical proficiency, the consolidation of skills, and the mastery of correct clinical habits and protocols. Throughout these placements, students work under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.

  • Semesters 1 and 2: Practice is conducted according to the instructions of the Professional Practice Coordinator under the supervision of academic staff or mentors, or at other approved facilities upon the Coordinator’s authorisation.

  • Semesters 3 and 4: Practice takes place every Monday under the supervision of academic staff at Jihlava Hospital, followed by block placements at the end of the semester at facilities selected by the students and approved by the Coordinator. This phase includes a credit examination in clinical conditions, requiring students to:

    • Ensure comprehensive nursing care for assigned clients, including the theoretical justification of performed or planned nursing procedures, diagnostic tests, or therapeutic interventions.

    • Demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge acquired in the following subjects into professional practice: Nursing Procedures, Anatomy, Physiology, Obstetrical Propaedeutics, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Midwifery Skills.

  • Semester 5: Practice is conducted without direct academic supervision. It concludes with a credit examination in clinical conditions, following the same criteria as the previous years (comprehensive care, theoretical justification, and interdisciplinary integration).

  • Semester 6 (Final Clinical Examination): During this final clinical assessment, students must demonstrate:

    • The provision of comprehensive nursing care for assigned clients, including theoretical justification for all interventions.

    • Proficiency in handling nursing and medical documentation and the ability to explain medical diagnoses in relation to the clients' nursing requirements.

    • Effective coordination of nursing care, alongside professional communication and cooperation with healthcare staff.

    • The capacity to fully integrate theoretical knowledge into clinical practice.
