Recognition of Practical Placements

Students may apply for recognition of any placement course (Practical Placement 1 - Practical Placement 5) in the same way as for other courses. The procedure is governed by the Study and Examination Regulations of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. In accordance with the Study and Examination Regulations of the College of Polytechnics Jihlava, "a placement may also be recognised on the basis of professional experience gained outside college studies". When applying for recognition of professional experience acquired outside the degree programme, students must submit confirmation from their employer verifying their employment as a non-medical healthcare professional. The confirmation must include the employee's job title, employment status (full-time equivalent), duration of employment, and a brief description of their duties.

 

As the degree programme qualifies graduates for two regulated professions simultaneously - Clinical Social Worker (a healthcare profession regulated by Act No. 96/2004 Coll.) and Social Worker (regulated by Act No. 108/2006 Coll.), the recognition of Practical Placement 1 - Practical Placement 5 is subject to both healthcare and social services legislation issued by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. In particular, the college is required to comply with Section 3(7) of Decree No. 39/2005 Coll., as amended by Decree No. 129/2010 Coll. and Decree No. 3/2016 Coll., which states: "The duration of practical training in a form of study other than full-time (hereinafter referred to as "full-time form of study") may be reduced only by the period of documented practical training completed within study programmes referred to in paragraph 1 preparing students for the same or comparable healthcare profession, or by the period of professional practice in the same or comparable healthcare profession, unless otherwise provided; however, the required content of the practical training must always be maintained." As a consequence of this legal requirement, placements cannot be recognised on the basis of studies completed at a higher professional school or university that does not provide healthcare-oriented education, nor on the basis of employment in social services alone. Consequently, students are required to complete the practical placement in its full extent, regardless of any previous study or work experience gained exclusively in social services.
